Legal fees are billed on an hourly or a fixed fee basis, depending on the type of work and an agreement with the client. Our hourly rates vary and depend on type of work and who provides the service. We add to our fees Hawaii State general excise tax, plus any costs we have advanced for disbursements on behalf of the client (recording, title reports and filing fees, for example). We also charge interest at the rate of 1% monthly for billings remaining unpaid 30 days after billing. To avoid any misunderstandings about billing, We generally have retainer agreements with our clients.
