The required steps are as follows:

(1) Draft a deed or other appropriate written document (called a (conveyance or transfer document) that describes the property being transferred and the tenancy by which the new owners will to hold title.

(2) The document must be signed (in black ink) before a notary public; and

(3) The transfer document must be recorded in the State of Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances or Land Court.

 (4) The Conveyance tax form must be filed and tax, if not an exempt transfer, must be paid.
